Trade Paperback edition of I SAY A PRAYER FOR ME goes into 2nd printing.

Washington, DC, Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - Stanice Anderson’s critically acclaimed book, I Say A Prayer For Me: One Woman’s Life of Faith and Triumph, exceeded publisher’s initial expectations and was rushed to it’s second printing.

“The huge chain stores like Costco and WalMart are consistently placing large orders for the title, so we had to order a second printing,” said Walk Worthy Press Publisher, Denise Stinson, in an early morning call to Anderson.

“I am so excited about what God is doing with this book. God promised even before I finished writing it that not only would He meet the readers within the pages but that He had already assigned the people that would buy the book. This second print run is yet another testimony
that God keeps His promises,” says Anderson.

Stanice Anderson, a native Washingtonian, is currently promoting the paperback release of her book which has received rave reviews in everything from Publisher’s Weekly to Sister2Sister magazine and was ranked one of the best books of the year by BET.com.

I SAY A PRAYER FOR ME
ONE WOMAN'S LIFE OF FAITH AND TRIUMPH

STANICE ANDERSON

STORIES OF GROWTH IN ONE WOMAN'S PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Stanice Anderson has been clean and sober for 17 years—and she owes it all to God and her faith. Her recovery from addiction hasn't been easy, nor pretty, but it certainly has been inspirational. At the age of thirty-four, Anderson found herself sitting in front of the mirror with a hypodermic needle in her hand, searching for a viable vein in which to inject her latest dose of heroin. From the television playing in the background, she heard someone on the religious cable program, The 700 Hundred Club, saying God loved her. This stranger's voice became her epiphany, her wake-up call, and she slowly began her arduous journey to reclaim her life. Inspired and grateful by God's intervention, Anderson felt compelled to share stories chronicling her journey. I SAY A PRAYER FOR ME: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (A Warner Books/Walk Worthy Press Hardcover; $21.95; November 19, 2002,) is her story.

By interweaving passionate prose, brutally honest descriptions and prayers, Stanice Anderson describes her love affair with drugs and alcohol and — with God's help — her eventual rebirth. Attacked by three men at the age of fourteen, Anderson was haunted by feelings of pain, fear, and degradation. Her pain turned to anger, which in turn birthed a sense of rage so profound that it almost destroyed her. She directed this rage toward everyone, especially herself. Drugs and promiscuity seemed to help for a while—they became her therapeutic answer for killing the secrets that would not die. But her life continued to spin out of control, and she found herself trapped in a vicious cycle of living to use drugs and using drugs to live.

With the help of her faith in God Anderson learned that she had to face her past if she wanted to become drug-free. And so she began her spiritual journey—as painful as it was sometimes—to confront the scars left by rape, abortions, a failed marriage, and an abandoned son. God planted within her the tools she needed to become a woman of discipline, substance, and honesty.

In I SAY A PRAYER FOR ME, Stanice Anderson shares stories of the growth of her personal and intimate relationship with God. She uses her own harrowing experiences to illustrate her feelings of hope and despair, faith and perseverance. She poignantly describes her reunion with her eight-year-old son as she desperately grasps at a second chance at being a mother. She honestly depicts the difficult relationships she has with her parents and her ex-husband, as well as her realization that her propensity for addiction is not entirely her fault. She lovingly portrays the people in her life who have helped her through the years, not only to help her find herself and God, but also to help her continue to take advantage of the opportunities in life and to follow her dreams. Above all, Anderson vividly portrays the overwhelming sense of gratitude she feels toward God for saving her life. She writes, "No matter what I have been through—and trust me it's been A LOT—I know that I am never alone, never again."

Offering reflections on her past and the prayers that got her through her darkest hours, Stanice Anderson delivers a message of inspiration and hope as a living testimony of the healing and restorative power of God. I SAY A PRAYER FOR ME: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph is a powerful and moving collection of life stories.
