Hello Chosen One:

I found out last week that... my website, Stanice.com, was chosen as one of seven finalists for the 2007 Black Web Award for "Best Author Site." So let me start this month's Food for the Spirit with my testimony.

The Testimony
I first launched my website in 1999 while working at USA TODAY.com, and one month before my first book, 12-Step Programs: A Resource Guide for Helping Professionals, was published. I was just learning .html and how to use Dreamweaver software, used to build the site. A webmaster & designer, Jan Brown, at USA TODAY was off work sick at home and took the time to visit my site—out of curiosity. When she came back to work, she contacted me and told me that she was so impressed by what I had done in building the site and the information/content that I provided people that visited the site, that she asked me…

”Would you mind terribly if I take your site to the next level? I want to do a mock up design and then you let me know if you like it and what more you want to add, etc., and we can go from there.”

I was a few words from being speechless, but one question had to be asked, “How much would something like that cost me?” I worked in a dot-com world and at the time, I knew designers wanted thousands of dollars, especially one of that caliber.

Jan’s raised eyebrows and squinted eyes, confused me, as she if she ¿Usted no comprende inglés?.

So I gave her the abbreviated version, “How much?”

“Nothing. I want to do this for you. I want to help you get to the next level in what you’re doing for the human race, that’s all.”

So, it was I who didn’t comprehend such a generous blessing from God through this wonderfully blessed woman.

Seven years, and five awards later – and now hopefully six … her initial design is still standing. Praise God, I’ve been able to build on it, incorporate new technologies as they’ve presented themselves, but “Jan, I thank God for you. He used you to bless me and many, many thousands more.”

The site has grown to over now 20,000 plus visitors per month, reading on the average 4-6 pages per visit and staying for seven to fifteen minutes. And now that I’m also on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/isayaprayerforme the traffic at www.stanice.com is really on the rise! People love coming to STANICE.COM and when they get there they stay awhile—feeling comfortable and getting fed with whatever God gives me to post. There are three Q&A columns (addiction recovery, life, and writing), and installments of my email series, Food for the Spirit, video clips of talks, original poetry, music with yours truly singing, links to hundreds of 12-step programs and recovery-related sites, many link resources for writers as well as readers, first chapters of my books, reading guides, flash photo slide shows of people that you meet in my book, I Say A Prayer for Me: One Woman’s Life of Faith and Triumph, information on how to set up 12-step meetings, sponsorship, etc.

Perhaps you’re wondering how you will do what you feel the Lord is leading you to do. Perhaps, the stretch seems too great and it’s way too far from the safety of the shore—your comfort zone. But God, will meet you in your each step you take in obedience. He is faithful even when we are faithless. It’s been my experience that He won’t give me Step three until I take Steps one and two. Do you feel me in the Spirit? May deep speak to deep…God has marvelous plans for your life (Jeremiah 29:11-13)…far greater than anything you can ask, think, or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). I just wanted a website up…I didn’t even know the technology when I started out. I just had a desire and I felt compelled to cast my nets on the internet-sea (so to speak), I had no idea it would lead to all that it has and the kicker is the best is yet to be. So trust, my friend, today. Just for today, trust and don’t be afraid. Take it one day, one step, one prayer at a time.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the provisions you are laying out for us even BEFORE we know what we need and when we need it. All we need for real is YOU! Empower us cast our nets onto the seas, as you lead and help us leave the provision and the outcomes to You. We thank you for your patience with us while we learn to follow you—unwaveringly. In Your Son’s Matchless Name we pray, Amen. So be it!

Feast on the Word: Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (NIV)
4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.

5 As you do not know the path of the wind,
or how the body is formed [a] in a mother's womb,
so you cannot understand the work of God,
the Maker of all things.

6 Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let not your hands be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.

Until the next time, we touch spirit-to-spirit and heart-to-heart, know that you are blessed beyond measure.

What people are saying...
Every time I hear your story it really has an impact, because you are a living testimony of what the Lord can and will do to restore us. I was encouraged to seek out my dreams as a result of your workshop, and that you are NEVER too OLD to dream. For if God gave you a dream/vision, He is the one that will bring it to fruition. I've learned to trust what I feel, and go for it, even if the situation in front of me doesn't look like it lines up with where I'm going. I was able to hear about others struggles and how the Lord helped them to achieve. Thank you for being free to be who you are and never afraid or ashamed to testify of what the Lord has done in your life. This is the strength for sooooo many.
