Resurrected Dreams

What are our dreams? If we no longer have any, we need to ask God, the Dream Maker, to build us a dream from the ground up and from the inside out. That's why I believe sometimes we feel like there is major construction going on inside of us that sometimes we only recognize as restlessness, questioning, an unsatisfied desire to do a certain thing, and to be a certain place in our lives where we never seem to be at the time we want to be there. Like labor pains, a dream struggles to be born.

But then, some of us, when blessed with a dream, allow fear to keep us from moving forward to realize the dream. We allow our negative thoughts to drag us back to our past failures: "How dare you even try. You know that's beyond you." Or "Where do you think you're going? You can't do that! Remember what happened the last time you tried to step out there? What makes you think that it's going to be different this time?"

We must not listen-they are lies from the bottomless pit of lies! Instead we must come to believe that when we ask God for a dream or a vision for our lives, our prayers will not only be answered with tailor-made dreams prepared in advance for us; but we will also be given absolutely everything we need to realize the dream. We can do all things through the God who strengthens us. And we must act on our dreams now, because if not now-when?

God hears our cries in the stillness of the night and in the busyness of the days. Before we even finish praying, help is already on the way. I know because He did it for me. The same thing He does for one He will do for another. Unlike human beings, God doesn't play favorites; but He does reward those who diligently seek Him.

Dear Heavenly Father: Give us the progressive vision that You have for our lives. Protect our minds against the invasion of negative and nonproductive thoughts that seek to defeat us. When the harshness of life seems to wash us out, remind us to get up and look up to You. Help us to inch our way back up the spout again and claim Your victory with every step we take. Thank you that our lives do have meaning and purpose! Breathe life into our dry bones and fan the flames under our smoldering dreams. Help us to believe that it's never too late to follow that dream and vision for our lives. Order our steps and show us that we can do all things with You as our Helper. Thank you for creating talents and gifts within us that we may use them to your glory. Amen. So be it!
